Cassie Lomas Make Up Academy - Week Two

Week two of the Bridal and Occasion Make Up course at the Cassie Lomas Make Up Academy was all about the base, creating the perfect glowing bridal base. Arguably the most important part of the bridal look as all brides want to look glowing on their big day.
When it comes to bridal make up the base can be very different to a more glam party look, most brides want to look like the best version of themselves whereas on a Saturday night it can be a case of the more the merrier when it comes to make up. Most brides want to have a nice dewy glow that isn't going to look dated in 10 years time when they're looking back at their photos.
To get a long lasting dewy glow can be tricky as generally speaking matte foundations tend to be more long wearing. However there are some tricks that can be used to get the perfect full coverage look with a dewy glow. One trick it is to use a strobe cream such as MAC Strobe Cream and mix it in with the foundation or apply it underneath the foundation after your primer. Another trick is to mix a matte foundation with a silk foundation to create a demi matte, to create the look above a did both.
As my client told me she had an oily T Zone I applied a pore refining primer to make sure the oily areas were under control (Maybelline Baby Skin Instant Pore Eraser), then I added a touch of MAC Strobe Cream to the cheeks to make sure she had a nice glow to the areas where its OK to shine. For the foundation I mixed together the MAC Pro Longwear Nourishing Waterproof Foundation with the Laura Mercier Candleglow Soft Luminous Foundation and the combination worked beautifully together. They blended easily and applied flawlessly onto the skin. The look was then finished off with the Cassie Lomas Whipped Bronzer which is part of the Superdrug  B. cosmetics range and is an excellent dupe for the Channel Universal Bronzer. I also added a touch of the MAC Cream Colour Base blush in Vintage Rose.
This of course is not a finished look, I would have liked to add a little more blush and also a touch of highligher. Then I would have concentrated on creating a beautiful subtle eye to make the most of my models eyes without drawing too much attention.
I found this week really informative and I feel like I really got to grips with the base, I felt confident in what I was applying and also the amount I was applying. The key is to apply the foundation in layers and I found this so much better than just going straight in with a fuller coverage. Adding the foundation in layers also helps to make the make up more long lasting.
For week three we are concentrating on mature skin...
